  • Overview and Responsibilities


    • Nickelodeon Animation has an exciting new opportunity for an Unreal Engine Artist to work on a CG animated sitcom. We are seeking candidates who are familiar with the CG animation pipeline and Unreal Engine 4. The UE4 Artist is responsible for shaders and lighting, environment building, and character retargeting


    • Package all assets into a UE4 Project with complete shaders and basic lighting
    • Improve and debug shaders to be optimized for Ray Tracing
    • Under the supervision of the Art Director, assist in set dressing the environments and tweaking shaders
    • Establish a workflow and standard for characters, props, and environments in UE4
    • Validate all assets in UE4 prior to each episode
    • Work with the Director to ensure sets are following sitcom guidelines for blocking
    • Create animation blueprints for character’s secondary rigs
    • Create material blueprints for foliage and dynamic materials
    • Create physics assets for all characters and ensure they are ready for Motion Capture
    • Educate members of the team on Unreal Engine workflows and capabilities

    Basic Qualifications


    • 3+ years of experience working in television animation, feature animation, or video games
    • 3+ years of experience working in Unreal Engine
    • Experience set dressing environments
    • Experience with Lighting and Shaders in UE4
    • Basic Understanding of Sequencer in UE4
    • Experience with Character Animation and Retargeting in UE4
    • Experience using Perforce and Version Control Software
    • Technical mindset with experience of implementing assets in Unreal Engine
    • Experience with Maya
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
    • Is a team player, who genuinely enjoys working with others
    • Must have a positive attitude and encourage collaboration


    • Extensive knowledge of the CG animation process
    • Familiarity with sitcoms and set dressing
    • Experience with debugging shaders
    • Experience with Ray Tracing in UE4
    • Experience with Motion Capture
    • Extensive experience with Blueprints
    • Experience with Substance Painter
