  • Overview and Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

    • Nickelodeon Animation has an exciting new opportunity for a 2D Designer to work on a CG animated sitcom. We are seeking candidates who are familiar with the CG animation pipeline and Unreal Engine 4. The 2D Designer is responsible for creating character, environment, and prop designs that will be implemented into CG and used for motion capture.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create both loose 2D sketches and detailed renderings, including turnarounds, for 3D artists to implement into working assets
    • Create visually stunning, top quality creative work
    • Work closely with the Art Director and Concept team to visualize and develop the final look of the characters
    • Design characters, props, and environments under the direction of the Creative Leadership of the series, including turns as needed
    • Provide draw overs and improvements on marketplace sets for UE4 Artist
    • Work with CG Generalists and UE4 Artists to note and improve CG assets
    • Create miscellaneous 2D assets as requested from the production team
    • Willingness to take feedback and rework material while maintaining a fresh perspective
    • Clearly communicate updates and communicate timely concerns to the production team
    • Ensure all shipping materials are prepared and ready on time

    Basic Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    • 3+ years of experience working in television animation, feature animation, or video games
    • Previous experience designing for CG Animation and/or AAA games
    • Highly creative, with an eye for high quality visuals and technical perfection
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with production team including Producers, Directors and artists via written and verbally
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
    • Is a team player, who genuinely enjoys working with others
    • Must have a positive attitude and encourage collaboration

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Previous Experience with Unreal Engine
    • Interested in Game Engine technology and motion capture
    • Interests in other areas of art for games (animation, FX, UI, etc.)
